Ingredients

Units Scale

Cake

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Cinnamon Topping

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened (not melted)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  • Combine Cake Batter Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  • Add Wet Ingredients to Batter: Gradually add the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined and smooth.

  • Incorporate Melted Butter: Slowly pour in the melted butter while gently stirring the batter until it is fully incorporated.

  • Pour Batter into Pan: Pour the prepared cake batter evenly into the greased 9×13 inch baking dish.

  • Make the Cinnamon Streusel Topping: In a separate medium bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Use a fork or your fingertips to mix the ingredients together until they form coarse crumbs.

  • Dollop Topping Over Cake: Evenly dollop the cinnamon streusel topping over the surface of the cake batter in the baking dish.

  • Swirl the Topping: Using a knife, gently swirl the topping into the cake batter. Insert the knife about halfway down into the batter and move it in an up-and-down motion along the length of the pan to create ribbons of cinnamon throughout.

  • Bake the Cake: Bake in the preheated oven for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs attached.

  • Prepare the Glaze: While the cake is baking, whisk together all the glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.

  • Glaze the Cake: Once the cake is out of the oven, drizzle the prepared glaze evenly over the warm cake.

  • Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
