Buttermilk Bliss: The Perfect Buttermilk Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 average size bananas)
  • 4 Tbsp buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pan: Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan (or a combination of smaller loaf pans).

  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Combine Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture. Mix until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.  Do not overmix.   
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan(s). Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
