Sometimes, the most delightful treats are also the simplest. Take this Mandarin Sorbet, for example. You won’t find a laundry list of ingredients here, nor will you need any fancy culinary skills. All it takes is one humble ingredient – frozen mandarin oranges – and a food processor to create a dessert that’s both incredibly refreshing and surprisingly sophisticated.

This sorbet is a testament to the natural sweetness and vibrant flavor of mandarin oranges. When blended from a frozen state, they transform into a creamy, smooth sorbet with an airy, almost whipped texture.   • 812 mandarin oranges

Instructions

  • Prepare the Mandarins: Peel the mandarins, removing any seeds.

  • Freeze: Place the peeled mandarins in a freezer-safe container and freeze overnight, or until completely solid.

  • Soften Slightly: Remove the frozen mandarins from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften just slightly.

  • Blend: Transfer the slightly softened mandarins to a food processor. Blend until smooth. Initially, the mixture will be crumbly; continue blending until a smooth, sorbet-like consistency is achieved.

  • Serve: Immediately scoop the mandarin sorbet into bowls or glasses and serve. Garnish with desired toppings, if desired.  (We shaved a little bit of a chocolate bar on top!)

Notes

  • Be sure to continuously scrape down the sides of your processor so it is all consistently smooth.  This will take a bit of time & will be very crumbly at first.  Keep going & it will come together again.
