Ingredients
Biscuit Ingredients:
- 2 C all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 c butter, shredded
- 1 c buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp butter (for top, optional)
Gravy Ingredients:
- 1 pound pork breakfast sausage
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1/4 c flour
- 3 cups whole milk
Instructions
nstructions for Biscuits:
- Preheat oven to 475F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
- In a large mixing bowl whisk together dry ingredients for biscuits. Add in shredded butter and mix again. Pour buttermilk in and mix until it looks combined & lumpy.
- Drop by rounded 1/4 c measures onto lined pan.
- Bake for 12- 14 minutes until golden brown & brush with melted butter as they come out (optional).
Instructions for Gravy:
- In a large skillet, brown sausage over medium high heat until crumbly.
- When sausage is done, scoop out & set aside. Add the butter (there should be about 3 Tbsp fat total) and let melt.
- Add in flour and mix until combined.
- Slowly add in milk, stirring constantly until fully incorporated and smooth. Make sure it comes to a boil.
- Add in sausage and mix until combined. Serve on top of sliced biscuit.
