Ingredients
Glaze Ingredients
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 12 ounces Dr Pepper cola
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 Tbsp grainy mustard
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp salt
Ham
- 1 (6-9 pound) spiral-sliced ham
- 20 ounces crushed pineapple
Instructions
For the Pineapple Ham Glaze:
- In a medium saucepan, combine all glaze ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20-30 minutes, or until the glaze thickens to the consistency of syrup.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
For the Brown Sugar Pineapple Spiral Ham:
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham with ½-inch-deep slices, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
- Cover the ham and bake for 1 hour.
- Brush half of the prepared glaze evenly over the ham, making sure to get some glaze down into the slices.
- Spread the crushed pineapple evenly over the surface of the ham, pressing it down gently.
- Pour half of the remaining glaze over the pineapple.
- Bake the ham, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
- Continue to cook the ham, basting it every 10 minutes with the remaining glaze (and pan juices once the glaze is used up), until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham registers 140°F (60°C). This final cooking time will take approximately 40-60 minutes.

- IMPORTANT: YOU MUST USE CANNED or COOKED PINEAPPLE for this recipe. Fresh pineapple contains enzymes that will turn your ham to mush!
