Ingredients
Sauce
- 2/3 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp grated orange zest
- 1/2 tsp grated lemon zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Salad
- 2 cup cubed fresh pineapple
- 2 cups strawberries, hulled & sliced
- 3 bananas, sliced
- 2 cups mandarin oranges
- 2 cup seedless red grapes
- 2 cups seedless green grapes
- 2 cups blueberries
Instructions
- Fruit Prep: Begin by thoroughly cleaning, cutting, and preparing all the fruits for your salad.
- Simmer Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the orange juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, orange zest, and lemon zest. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and allow it to gently simmer for approximately 5 minutes, or until it reaches a slightly thickened consistency.
- Finish & Cool Sauce: Take the saucepan off the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined. Set the sauce aside in a cool place to cool down completely before using.
- Layer & Marinate: Arrange your prepared fruit in attractive layers within a large, clear glass serving bowl. Once the sauce is fully cooled, pour it over the fruit, ensuring it’s evenly distributed. Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for 3-4 hours to allow the flavors to meld beautifully before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to use any kind of fruit you like: blackberries, kiwi, mango, navel oranges, etc.
