Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of Puff pastry sheets
  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon sugar – 1/3 cup sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon combined

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven & Prep Apples: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the apples into rings. Using a small, round cutter (like the wider end of an icing tip) or a sharp knife, remove the core from each apple slice to create a “doughnut” shape.

  • Wrap with Puff Pastry: Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into thin strips. Gently wrap each apple ring with a strip of puff pastry. You can either thread the strip through the center hole and wrap it continuously around the apple, or tuck one end into the hole, wrap around the apple, and tear off the excess, repeating until the apple is fully covered.

  • Shape & Egg Wash: Once wrapped, gently push a finger through the center hole to open it up and slightly flatten the pastry around the sides. In a small bowl, whisk an egg with a little bit of water to create an egg wash. Lightly brush the tops of all the wrapped apple doughnuts with this mixture.

  • Cinnamon Sugar & Bake: Generously sprinkle the tops of the doughnuts with cinnamon sugar. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

  • Cool & Serve: Allow the doughnuts to cool on the baking sheet until they are warm to the touch. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can add toppings – such as caramel or chocolate sauce.  Add with ice cream for a hot/cold treat!
