Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 5 drops green food coloring (optional but makes it that classic green color)
  • 1/4 tsp mint extract (NOT peppermint – just mint)
  • 4 crushed mint flavored Oreo’s + extra if wanted crushed around rim of cup (optional)
  • whipped cream, chocolate syrup & cherry for top (all optional)

Instructions

  • If you wanted to design your cup with crushed cookies around the rim and chocolate design inside cup – do that first & put in the refrigerator to keep cold & set up.  I dipped the rim of my cup in the chocolate syrup and then into crushed Oreos.  I drizzled the syrup inside the cup and then immediately kept in the refrigerator until I was ready to pour & serve.  (Optional)
  • Place the ice cream, milk, food coloring and mint extract in a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • If adding crushed Oreos, put them in & stir with a spoon/spatula.  I found if I blended them – we didn’t enjoy getting the small “chunks” of cookie as we enjoyed it. (Optional)
  • Pour into two glasses.  Top with whipped cream, sprinkles and cherries, then serve.  (Added toppings are optional)

Notes

  • Best and classic flavor is with MINT extract.  NOT peppermint extract.
  • Depending on how vibrant you want your green color to be – start with 4-5 drops and then add more as you desire.
  • You can do this shake without the Oreo’s for the classic shake.  All added toppings to rim, side and top are optional.
