Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups milk (2% or whole)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (100% pure pumpkin)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp pumpkin spice simple syrup (recipe for this on my website)
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Part 1: Make the Steamer Base

    1. In a blender, add the milk, whipping cream, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla.

    2. Blend the mixture until it is completely smooth.

    Part 2: Heat & Serve

    1. Pour the blended mixture into a large pot. Heat over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly until it is warmed through. Be sure to stir frequently to prevent the milk from boiling or scalding.

    2. Pour your desired amount of pumpkin spice simple syrup into a mug.

    3. Add the warmed milk mixture to the mug.

    4. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a large batch: To keep the drink warm for an event, you can transfer it to a slow cooker on the “warm” setting. Be sure to stir it every so often to prevent the spices from settling at the bottom.

  • Adjusting the creaminess: You can easily customize the texture of this drink. Feel free to play with the ratio of milk to heavy cream, or even use half-and-half, depending on how creamy you like it. For a dairy-free version, oat milk or almond milk work beautifully.

  • Heating the mixture: For the best results, heat the drink in a heavy bottom saucepan over low heat. This helps to simmer the mixture gently and prevents the milk from scorching.
